Bishop Mac begins field hockey campaign with win, tie

FERGUS – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics opened the District 4/10 high school girls’ field hoc key season with a win and a tie Wednesday at Centre Wellington District High School.

The Celtics downed the host Centre Wellington Falcons 5-1 and also battled the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne to a scoreless draw.

Nina Fisher had a hat trick in the win over Centre Wellington while Julia Billings and Samantha Tracey also scored.

Daislynn McCracken had the goal for the Falcons.

Goalkeepers who recorded the shutouts in the Bishop Mac-Centre Dufferin game were not reported.

Guelph CVI 8 Orangeville 0

Maggie Smart, Clara Sabastian and Jasmine Hasmatali scored twice apiece for GCVI while single goals were added by Olivia Puddephat and Jessie Struyk.

Lou Meloche and Brooklynn Loder shared the shutout.
