Bishop Mac hockey girls hand Lions a blanking

GUELPH – Sam Ponton recorded the shutout as the Bishop Macdonell Celtics blanked the St. James Lions 6-0 in District 10 high school girls’ hockey play Tuesday at the West End arena.

Devan MacDonald led Bishop Mac with a pair of goals while single goals were netted by Morgan Boudreau, Sam Stamp, Ava Fries and Julia Tonin. Morgan Blackmore had two assists while single assists were awarded to Fries, Tonin, Emma Belluzzi, Sophia Dixon, MacDonald and Olivia Howse.

The win was the second in three outings for the Celtics, the busiest team in the opening nine days of the regular season while the game was the season opener for the Lions.
