Bishop Mac vaults to tie for second in girls’ hockey

GUELPH – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics climbed into a tie for second place in the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league as they handed the Guelph CVI Green Gaels a 5-2 setback Thursday at the West End arena.

Chantal Puzik and Sam Stamp each had two goals for the Celtics while the other scorer was not reported.

Jessie Struyk and Damara Marshall tallied for GCVI.

The win lifts Bishop Mac to 3-2-0-0 while GCVI falls to 0-5-1-0.

Centre Wellington Falcons lead at 5-0-0-0 while Ross Royals follow at 3-0-0-0. Centennial Spartans are at 2-2-0-0 while the Lourdes Crusaders are at 2-3-0-0 and the St. James Lions are at 0-3-1-0.

Kara Den Hoed, Sydney Healey and Olivia Kosempel scored twice apiece for Centre Wellington while single goals were added by Lynsey Goodwin and Olivia MacMillan. Abby Ferguson, Morgan Robinson, Alwynn Mackie, Ella Chase, Bailey Sabila and Tianna Dietrich each had two assists while Goodwin, Healey and MacMillan each had one.

Abigail Robinson hit for the goal for Lourdes while Angela Gemin assisted on the play.
