Bishop Macdonell hits to clip Centre Wellington in senior hoops

FERGUS — The Bishop Macdonell Celtics received a 17-point performance from Alicia Higgins as they downed the Centre Wellington Falcons 48-34 in District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball play Thursday at Centre Wellington.

Frances Wolkensperg had a game-high 19 points for the Falcons.

Bishop Mac remains in fourth at 5-3 while Centre Wellington is sixth at 1-7.

 

Centennial 49 Ross 28

Sarah Cobey connected for 28 points for Centennial while Miren Oliver added nine.

Kayla O’Driscoll had 12 for Ross and Emma Capper followed with four.

Centennial leads the league at 8-1 while Ross is fifth at 3-6.

 

St. James 57 Guelph CVI 24

Grace Mencfeld’s 19 points led St. James while Olivia Brown and Amanda Lago each contributed 10.

Eve Elford had 13 for GCVI and Ellie teNyenhuis netted seven.

St. James is second at 7-2 while GCVI is seventh at 0-9.

 

Junior

Ross 45 Centennial 44

Bronwyn Sweeney and Ailani Curvan each had 17 points for Ross.

Kayla Hooper led Centennial with 12 while Chiara Marin followed with 11.

Ross is second at 7-2 and Centennial’s third at 5-4.

 

Guelph CVI 39 St. James 5

Jordyn Best hit for 10 points for GCVI while Maddy Boyd had eight and Acadia Tremain collected seven.

St. James received three from Tara Yuvkhana and two from Amelia Glaab.

GCVI leads the league at 9-0 while St. James is seventh at 1-8.

 

Orangeville 29 Lourdes 27

Taya Williamson struck for 17 points for Orangeville while Rylee McKenna chipped in with three.

Melia Tessel had 12 for Lourdes while Ashley Pallaya added four and Ronette Eimar had three.

Orangeville is fourth at 4-4 and Lourdes is tied for fifth with Centre Wellington as both are at 2-6.
