
Blitz get another point for overtime loss to Plattsville
PLATTSVILLE – A day after the Erin Blitz picked up their first win of their inaugural season, they picked up another point in an 8-7 loss in overtime to the Plattsville Lakers in WOSHL play at the Plattsville arena Sunday.
The Blitz came back from a two-goal deficit and forced the overtime with a goal with 6:52 to go in regulation time. However, Bradley Watson’s goal with 1:46 to go in a five-minute overtime period gave Plattsville the win.
Plattsville Lakers 8 Erin Blitz 7 (OT)
The Lakers led 2-0 at the end of the first period before the Blitz tied it with the first two goals of the second. After that, the teams traded goals throughout with Plattsville taking a single-goal lead five times and Erin quickly responding to pull even.
Jacob Miller had a hat trick for the Blitz while Chris Prejet tallied twice and Brad Humberstone and Lucas Schott netted single goals. Max Lightfoot had three assists while Schott had two and Devin Miller, Marc Sandwell, Jeff White, Liam Galton and Hayden Ireland each had one.
Kevin Hu struck for six goals for Plattsville while Justin Cheng and Watson scored the other goals. Hunter Dubecki collected five assists while Damian Caringi had three, Jason Horvat and Mitch Randell had two apiece and Billy Desson, Cheng and Eric Langridge had one each.
Steven Horvat and Brayden Kelso shared the goaltending chores for Erin. Horvat had 18 saves and Kelso had 20. Devyn Clark had 36 saves for Plattsville.
The result leaves the Blitz at 1-8-0-1 and Plattsville at 4-8-0-0. The Blitz are ninth in the nine-team league while the Lakers are sixth, five points ahead of Erin. Between the two teams are the Alvinston Killer Bees in seventh at 3-5-0-1 and the Delhi Flames in eighth at 2-8-0-1, two points ahead of Erin.
The Blitz and Lakers are to meet again Saturday at Erin’s Centre 2000 arena. Game time is 8 p.m.
