Brock Badgers goalie Murphy shuts door on Gryphons

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons suffered their third consecutive loss in OUA women’s hockey play Saturday as Jensen Murphy stopped 30 shots to get the shutout in a 3-0 win for the Brock Badgers at the Gryphon Centre.

Brock scored a single goal in the first period and added two goals in the final minute of the second for the win.

Niamh Haughey, Mishayla Christensen and Annie Berg scored for Brock while Emma Irwin had two assists and Kaitlyn Colonna had one.

The Gryphs outshot Brock 30-25 and both teams were 0-for-4 on their power plays.

Aurore Beaulieu took the loss in the Guelph net.

The result leaves the Gryphs at 5-4-0-2 and Brock at 5-6-0-0.

The Gryphs are to host the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-7-1-2) Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre and complete the 2019 portion of their schedule against the Windsor Lancers (2-8-0-1) at Windsor Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
