Brown nets a pair as Guelph Union blanks Unionville

UNIONVILLE – Guelph Union struck for a pair of goals in the final 18 minutes of the game as they blanked Unionville Milliken SC 2-0 in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Sunday night at Bill Crothers high school.

Olivia Brown scored both goals.

Her first goal came in the 72nd minute while she added her second one 14 minutes later.

Rachel Yerxa picked up the shutout in her first outing of the season.

The win gives Union two shutout victories in as many outings as they had previously slipped by Darby FC a week earlier in their season opener at Alumni Stadium.

For Unionville, the loss drops its record to 0-2-0.

Union is to play Vaughan Azzurri, also 2-0-0, next Sunday at 5 p.m. at North Maple Regional Park.
