Celtics seeded seventh for OFSAA AA girls’ hoops
GUELPH – The District 10-champion Bishop Macdonell Celtics have been seeded seventh for this week’s 18-team OFSAA provincial high school AA girls’ basketball championship tournament at London.
The Celtics have been seeded behind the top-seed Wallaceburg Tartans, second-seed Dundas Valley Gryphons of Dundas, third-seed La Salle Black Knights of Kingston, fourth-seed St. Joseph’s Jaguars of Barrie, fifth-seed Mother Teresa Spartans of London and sixth-seed St. Mary Crusaders of Hamilton.
Other schools in the tournament, in order of seeding, are the Theriault Flames of Timmins, Lo-Ellen Park Knights of Sudbury, Birchmount Park Panthers of Scarborough, Hammarskjold Vikings of Thunder Bay, Prince Edward Panthers of Picton, James Cardinal McGuigan Wolves of Toronto, host John Paul II Jaguars of London, Denis O’Connor Chargers of Ajax, Dr. J.M. Denison Huskies of Newmarket, St. Paul Wolverines of Mississauga and Havergal Gators of Toronto.
The Celtics are to open tournament play Thursday at noon against the McGuigan Wolves.
The winner is to play Friday at 10:30 a.m. against the loser of a match between Lo-Ellen Park and Birchmount Park.
The loser is to play Friday at 9 a.m. against the winner of a match between St. Joseph and Denis O’Connor.
Play continues with quarter-finals later Friday.
The semifinals and medal games are set for Saturday.
