
Centre Dufferin advances to senior, junior hoops finals
SHELBURNE – The Centre Dufferin Royals put themselves in a position where they could sweep the District 4 high school boys’ basketball titles for the fourth consecutive season as they recorded victories in both senior and junior on their home court Monday.
The Royals dropped the Emmanuel Christian Eagles 62-33 in the junior match while the score of their senior victory over the Norwell Varsity Reds was not reported.
Both the senior and junior finals are to be played at Centre Dufferin Wednesday with the Royals facing the Erin Raiders in the senior final at 2:30 p.m. and the Westside Thunder in the junior final at 4 p.m.
Senior Boys’ Basketball
Erin 60 Westside 57
The third-place Raiders edged the second-place Thunder in Orangeville Monday.
Ethan Paquette led Erin with 23 points while Myles Zappia added 16.
Dylan Hollett had 17 for Westside with Cameron Fradette getting 15.
Junior Boys’ Basketball
Centre Dufferin 62 Emmanuel Christian 33
T. Robinson hit for 14 points for Centre Dufferin while K. Lewis had 11.
Craig VanGrootheest had 22 for Emmanuel Christian while S. Meerstra had four.
Westside 53 Erin 49
Close game between the two schools in junior in Orangeville, too.
Z. Barbosa had a game-high 20 points for Westside while Tyson Horn collected 15.
C. Bowers led Erin with 19 while J. Woolcock chipped in with 16.
