Centre Dufferin breaks tie atop senior hoops league

MOUNT FOREST – The Centre Dufferin Royals grabbed sole possession of first place in the District 4 high school senior boys’ basketball league standings Monday.

The Royals handed the Wellington Heights Wolverines a 51-39 setback to break a tie for top spot.

Leading scorers were not reported.

Centre Dufferin leads at 3-0 while Wellington Heights falls to 2-2. Norwell Varsity Reds are to start their campaign in 2020 while Emmanuel Christian trails at 0-3.

Westside 61 Norwell 42

Peter Morneau led Westside with 18 points while Nick Devins netted 12.

Blake Skerritt had 10 for Norwell and Chris Lopez followed with nine.

 

Centre Dufferin 62 Wellington Heights 45

D. Wayne had a game-high 20 points for Centre Dufferin while A. Jones added 13 and Eugene Dwomoh collected 11.

Jack Weiser hit for 12 for Wellington Heights while Lucas Fidler had nine and A. O’Donnell and Charlie McKenzie each had seven.
