Centre Dufferin captures boys’ basketball titles

SHELBURNE – The Centre Dufferin Royals swept the District 4 high school boys basketball finals Tuesday with a pair of one-sided wins on their home court.

Centre Dufferin won the senior final 79-41 over the Wellington Heights Wolverines.

Scoring details were not reported.

The Royals won the junior championship match 77-36 over the Erin Raiders.

Tailon Crawford led Centre Dufferin with 17 points while Aaron Cunningham had 15 and Abel Sales and Nathan Isaac added 12 apiece.

Colden Reay had 14 for Erin.

For Centre Dufferin, the senior win allowed them to keep the D4 title they won last season. The Royals have won six of the last nine league finals.

The junior win allowed Centre Dufferin to dethrone Erin. It was also Centre Dufferin’s seventh junior title in 11 years.

Centre Dufferin advances to this week’s CWOSSA AA championship tournament in both senior and junior.
