Centre Dufferin, Erin in junior girls’ basketball final

SHELBURNE – The Centre Dufferin Royals and Erin Raiders are to meet next week to decide the District 4 high school junior girls’ basketball championship.

Both teams scored semifinal wins Thursday as Centre Dufferin defeated the Wellington Heights Wolverines 34-25 and Erin downed the Westside Thunder 26-18.

Carly McLean had a game-high 10 points for Centre Dufferin in the win over Wellington Heights.

Lauren Bailey, Madison Eisner and Sam Foreman each had four points for Erin in the other semifinal while Madison Bigler had 10 for Westside.

Centre Dufferin and Erin finished tied for first place with 7-1 records. The Royals were awarded top spot thanks to a 45-42 win over Erin Oct. 24. The Raiders had edged Centre Dufferin 34-33 Sept. 30.

While the date and time for the final has not been announced, it is to be held at Centre Dufferin on either Monday or Tuesday.
