Centre Dufferin hockey boys shut down Green Gaels

SHELBURNE – The Centre Dufferin Royals moved into a tie for second place in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey league standings with a 3-0 victory over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels Wednesday at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex.

The win lifted Centre Dufferin out of a four-way tie for fourth and into a three-way tie for second as it left the Royals at 2-1-0-0, the same as the other Royals – the Ross Royals. The Norwell Varsity Reds are at 2-0-0-0.

Jordan Leitch had a pair of goals for Centre Dufferin while Ty Murray scored the other goal. Assists went to Rylan Webster and Tyler Higginson while Tristan Szymanowski picked up the shutout.

GCVI falls to 1-3-0-0.

Play is to resume with a pair of games Thursday with the Centre Wellington Falcons hosting the Orangeville Bears at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex at 2 p.m. and Norwell and the Centennial Spartans battling at Centennial arena at 2:30 p.m.
