Centre Dufferin Royals take two in field hockey

SHELBURNE – The Centre Dufferin Royals started their Thanksgiving celebrations with a pair of 1-0 victories in District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey play Friday on their own field.

The Royals defeated both the Orangeville Bears and Centennial Spartans.

Shannan Armstrong was in net for both shutouts.

Morgan Bennington scored against Orangeville and Taitum Morley had the goal against Centennial.

The wins were the first two of the season for Centre Dufferin and moves the Royals into fourth place at 2-1-2. Centennial is fifth at 2-3-1 and Orangeville and the Centre Wellington Falcons are tied for sixth with 1-3-1 records.

Shutouts were recorded by Carissa Potton of Orangeville and Sarah Dykstra of Centennial.
