Centre Wellington breaks into win column in senior soccer

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons captured their first win of the District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer season Thursday when they blanked the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 5-0.

Jonathon Barclay hit for a pair of goals for the host Falcons while single goals were added by Ryan Fuller, Jake Neufeld and Jax Grover.

Theron Haggerty collected the clean sheet.

The Orangeville Scarlet Bears lead the league at 5-0-0 while the Centennial Spartans are second at 3-1-0. The Bishop Macdonell Celtics and St. James Lions are tied at 2-2-0 while Centre Wellington and Ross Royals follow at 1-2-1. Lourdes Crusaders are at 1-3-1 and GCVI is at 0-3-1.

 

Orangeville 4 Ross 1

Aidan Brennan netted a pair of goals as Orangeville extended its lead. Ty Dunkley and Andrew Paolucci also scored.

William Rodenburg had the goal for Ross.

 

Lourdes 3 Bishop Macdonell 0

Lourdes received goals from Owen Duffy, Richard Davis and Sam Longo for its first win of the season.

 

Centennial 4 St. James 3

Ola Ogunnote fired in a hat trick for Centennial and Ethan Glascott had the other goal.

Scoring for St. James were Kean Lam with two goals and Yarek Mataiz with one.

 

Junior

Ross 2 Orangeville 1

Will Elliot scored both goals for Ross.

Kyle Hooker had the goal for Orangeville.
