Centre Wellington fifth in AAA field lacrosse festival

MISSISSAUGA – The Centre Wellington Falcons finished the OFSAA provincial high school AAA boys’ field lacrosse festival in fifth place.

The squad from Fergus defeated the Neil McNeil Maroons of Scarborough 7-5 in the fifth-place game Tuesday.

The Falcons gained their berth in that game with an 11-4 victory over the St. Stephen Royals of Bowmanville in a fifth-place pool semifinal earlier in the day.

The Humberside Huskies of Toronto took the gold-medal match with an 11-4 victory over the St. Peter Saints of Peterborough while the Brooklin Bears of Whitby won the bronze-medal game 8-3 over the Holy Trinity Titans of Oakville.

Centre Wellington had split a pair of games in preliminary pool play Monday as they defeated St. Peter 8-5 and lost 9-6 to the Port Credit Warriors.
