
Centre Wellington finishes atop boys’ hockey standings
FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons clinched a first-place finish in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey league with a 6-1 victory over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex Monday.

The Falcons finish the regular season at 10-1-1-0, two points up on the Ross Royals (9-2-1-0) and three ahead of the Orangeville Bears (9-3-0-0).
The Celtics (3-6-0-2) are tied for fifth with the Centennial Spartans (4-7-0-0), one point behind the fourth-place St. James Lions (4-7-1-0) who have finished their regular season.
Bishop Mac is to host the eighth-place Norwell Varsity Reds (2-8-1-0) Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the West End arena while the Spartans are to host the seventh-place Erin Raiders (3-8-0-0) at the same time at the Centennial arena in the final games of the regular season.
Playoffs are to begin with quarter-final matches Thursday and Friday.
