Centre Wellington finishes undefeated in girls’ hockey
GUELPH – The Centre Wellington Falcons completed an unbeaten run through the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league’s regular season Monday with a 7-0 victory over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels at Exhibition arena.
Maddy Bender had a pair of goals for the Falcons while Ella Chase picked up the shutout, Centre Wellington’s eighth of the season and seventh in a row.
The Ross Royals were the only team to score against the Falcons this season. They scored a single goal in each of their two meetings.
Centre Wellington finished first at 10-0-0-0 and was followed by Ross at 8-2-0-0, Centennial Spartans at 5-5-0-0, Lourdes Crusaders at 4-6-0-0, GCVI at 3-7-0-0 and St. James Lions at 0-10-0-0.
Playoffs are to start with Wednesday’s quarter-finals. St. James and Centennial are to play at Centennial arena and GCVI and Lourdes are to play at Exhibition arena. Game time for both games is 3 p.m.
