Crusaders all alone in third in senior basketball

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders grabbed sole possession of third place in the District 10 high school senior boys’ basketball league’s standings with a 56-37 victory over the St. James Lions Thursday.

Kevin Martinez hit for 26 points for Lourdes while Sebastian Portellato had 16 and Tyler Blais netted six.

Josh Sims and Kelvin Nkubito each had eight for St. James while Adam Macpherson added five.

Centennial Spartans and Ross Royals lead the league with 4-0 records while Lourdes is at 3-1. The Crusaders are followed by the Bishop Macdonell Celtics at 2-2 while St. James, Centre Wellington Falcons and Guelph CVI Green Gaels are each at 1-3 and the Orangeville Bears are at 0-4.

 

Ross 86 Orangeville 42

Cole Miller connected for 21 points for Ross while Gatlang Pout had 14 and Carter Wesley netted 13.

Keelan Steele had 12 for Orangeville and Brayden Cooke collected 11.

 

Centre Wellington 61 Bishop Macdonell 46

Owen Fox led Centre Wellington with 19 points while Erik Dekkert had 13.

Ramez Kridli and Luca De Sando each netted 11 for Bishop Mac.

 

Centennial 79 Guelph CVI 50

Hadi El-Miari struck for 24 points for Centennial while Jackson Wallace had 21 and Sebstian Harman-Den Hoed added 13.

GCVI received 16 points from Rylan Ninabar, 10 from Mohamed Talaat and seven from O. Thaher 7.

 

Junior

Centre Wellington 55 Bishop Macdonell 41

Benny Miller led Centre Wellington with 15 points.

Nick Poloniato netted 14 for Bishop Mac.

 

Centennial 51 Guelph CVI 25

Scoring leaders not reported.

 

Orangeville 72 Ross 60

Ashton McQuaig had 16 points for Orangeville while E. Steele added 15.

Landon Hart collected 16 for Ross while 12 were added by Daniel Wang.
