Crusaders keep eyes on third in senior boys’ volleyball

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders kept their chances of finishing in third place in the District 10 high school senior boys’ volleyball league’s final standings alive as they swept the Bishop Macdonell Celtics Tuesday.

The Crusaders can finish third with a win over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels Thursday, the final day of the league’s regular season.

The Gaels will have something to play for Thursday, too, as they can claim fifth in the six-team league with a win over the Crusaders.

Heading into the final day, the Centennial Spartans lead at 9-1 while the Ross Royals are second at 8-1. The Spartans will win a tiebreaker should they finish deadlocked with the Royals. Both are already assured of byes in the quarter-finals set for Monday.
