Crusaders move into tie for second in senior hoops

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders moved into a tie for second place with the Ross Royals in the District 10 high school senior boys’ basketball league following a 58-31 victory over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics Wednesday.

Tyler Blais had a game-high 20 points for Lourdes while Jacob Porcellato added 11 and Sebastian Porcellato and Kevin Martinez collected eight apiece.

Kobi Griffin-Randall contributed eight for Bishop Mac while Matt MacEachern had six.

While the Centennial Spartans (13-0) have clinched the top spot in the standings, Lourdes and Ross are tied for second at 10-3 with just Thursday’s games to go in the regular season.

Lourdes is to host Centennial at 5:30 p.m. while Ross is to take on the St. James Lions at Ross at 4 p.m. St. James and the Guelph CVI Green Gaels are tied for fourth at 6-7 and will face one another in next week’s quarter-finals.

 

St. James 60 Centre Wellington 55

Michael Fonte and Josh Sims struck for 14 points apiece for St. James while Kelvin Nkubito had 12.

Owen Fox-Kristensen had a game-high 18 for Centre Wellington while Kelsi Mallany netted 17.

 

Junior

Lourdes 54 Bishop Macdonell 40

Simon Porcellato connected for 11 points for Lourdes while Josh Cadelle had 10.

Nick Poloniato struck for nine for Bishop Mac and Reece DiCiccio followed with eight.

 

Centre Wellington 63 St. James 52

Hunter Mathewson led Centre Wellington with 16 points while Gareth Roberts added 13 and Blake Dickinson had 12.

Owen Tyler had 14 points for St. James and Lawrence Asucian had 12.
