
Crusaders seniors join tie for fifth in girls’ volleyball
GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders moved into a three-way tie for fifth in District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball play following their 3-2 win over the Orangeville Bears Tuesday.
The Crusaders won 22-25, 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 15-10.
The victory at home by the Crusaders followed the day’s trend as all of the senior triumphs were recorded by the home teams.
St. James Lions lead the league at 11-1 while the Guelph CVI Green Gaels are second at 10-2, Centennial Spartans are third at 9-3 and Ross Royals are fourth at 7-5. Those teams will finish in the top four and will host quarter-final matches next week.
Lourdes, Bishop Macdonell Celtics and Orangeville are all at 3-9 while the Centre Wellington Falcons are eighth at 2-10.
All teams are scheduled to play two matches Thursday to finish the regular season. GCVI, St. James and Orangeville are to play at Centre Wellington while Ross, Bishop Mac and Lourdes are to play matches at Centennial.
Quarter-finals are slated for Monday and semifinals are to be held next Wednesday. The final is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre immediately following the 6 p.m. junior final.

The Lions won 12-25, 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 15-8.
Guelph CVI 3 Bishop Macdonell 0
The Gaels won 25-7, 25-18, 25-15.
Ross 3 Centre Wellington 1
The Royals won 19-25, 30-28, 25-17, 25-11.
Junior Girls’ Volleyball
St. James 3 Centennial 1
The Lions won 26-24, 25-11, 20-25, 25-12.
St. James is at 10-2 and Centennial is at 4-8.
Guelph CVI 3 Bishop Macdonell 0
The Gaels won 25-16, 25-10, 25-14.
GCVI is at 4-8 and Bishop Mac is at 6-6.
Ross 3 Centre Wellington 1
The Royals won 25-13, 25-13, 14-25, 25-16.
Ross is at 11-1 and Centre Wellington is at 9-3.
Orangeville 3 Lourdes 0
The Bears won 25-19, 28-26, 25-4.
Orangeville is at 4-8 and Lourdes is at 0-12.
