Crusaders, Spartans skate into girls’ hockey semifinals

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders struck for four goals in the second period as they skated to an 8-1 victory over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels in District 10 high school girls’ quarter-final hockey play Wednesday at Exhibition arena.

Including in the scoring for Lourdes was a pair of goals 21 seconds apart in the second period.

Sophie Power Rossi and Angelina Gemin scored twice apiece for Lourdes while Ciara Hayne, Oceania Fraser, Kayla Wilson and Millie Blamauer added single goals. Claire Levesque and Breawna Sanecki had two assists apiece while Blamauer, Keagan Hayne and Angelina Gemin each had one.

GCVI’s scorer was unavailable.

Lourdes had finished the regular season in third place while GCVI was sixth.

The Crusaders advance to play the second-place Ross Royals in next Wednesday’s semifinals.

 

Centennial 12 St. James 1

Scoring details were not reported.

Centennial finished fourth while the St. James Lions finished fifth.

The Spartans are to battle the first-place Centre Wellington Falcons at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Wednesday’s semifinals.
