Crusaders volleyball girls get their first win in senior

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders gave themselves an early Christmas gift Thursday when they collected their first win of the District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball season.

In the first match of the second half of the regular season, the Crusaders slipped by the Centre Wellington Falcons 3-2.

The Crusaders won 25-12, 25-14, 18-25, 23-25, 15-5.

The result leaves the two teams tied at 1-7. The Guelph CVI Green Gaels lead the league at 8-0 while the Ross Royals are second at 6-2. Every other team in the league – the Bishop Macdonell Celtics, Centennial Spartans, Orangeville Bears and St. James Lions – is at 4-4.

Ross and Bishop Mac head into the break tied for first at 7-1. GCVI is third at 6-2 and is followed by St. James at 5-3, Centre Wellington at 3-5, Lourdes at 2-6 and Orangeville and Centennial both at 1-7.
