D10 girls’ soccer loop down to semifinals
GUELPH – And then there were four.
The combatants for Tuesday’s District 10 high school girls’ soccer league’s semifinals were set Monday and there were no surprises as home teams won all four games.
The first-place Ross Royals downed the eighth-place Orangeville Bears 6-1, second-place Guelph CVI Green Gaels defeated the seventh-place Lourdes Crusaders 4-1, third-place Bishop Macdonell Celtics blanked the sixth-place Centennial Spartans 2-0 and the fourth-place St. James Lions slipped by the fifth-place Centre Wellington Falcons 1-0.
Both of Tuesday’s semifinals are to start at 4 p.m. Ross is to host St. James while GCVI and Bishop Macdonell are to play at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
The championship match is to go Thursday.
Ross 6 Orangeville 1
Eliza Cazzola and Jordan Faveri scored twice each for Ross while Jessica Campbell and Ashton Dal Bello added single goals.
Mel Glazier had the lone goal for Orangeville.
Guelph CVI 4 Lourdes 1
Goal scorers for GC included Jasmine Hasmatali, Kristen Kohlmeier and Olivia Puddephatt.
Maeve Nichol scored for Lourdes.
Bishop Macdonell 2 Centennial 0
Georgia Merriman had one of the goals for Bishop Mac while Helena Kunic had the shutout.
St. James 1 Centre Wellington 0
Lily Campbell scored the game’s only goal and Ianna Krudwig picked up the shutout.
