D4 golf titles for Di Martino and Kernoghan

MOUNT FOREST – Ava Di Martino of Erin and Aaron Kernoghan of Norwell captured individual District 4 high school golf titles Thursday by shooting identical rounds of 82 at the Pike Lake Golf Course.

Di Martino took the girls’ crown while Kernoghan claimed the boys’ top honours.

Schoolmate Sanvi Swarup was runner-up to Di Martino in the girls’ tournament with a round of 84. Avery Andrews of Wellington Heights was third at 90 and was followed by the Norwell trio of Reese Miller (96), Megan Parker (98) and Iris Nieuwland (103).

The Norwell pair of Luke McCarey and Carter Murray and Parker Coffey of Wellington Heights tied for second in the boys’ tournament with scores of 83. Connor Coulter-Richards of Erin shot an 85 while schoolmate Tristan Best was at 87, same as Ethan McCrarey of Norwell and Evan McDougall of Wellington Heights. Coen Galbraith of Centre Dufferin and the Eurigs (Mason and Tyson) of Wellington Heights followed at 89.

Norwell One won the boys’ team title with a score of 248 from its top three golfers. Wellington Heights one was second at 259 while Erin was third at 262.

The Norwell and Wellington Heights’ teams as well as Coulter-Richards, Galbraith, Hayden Bondy of Erin and Westside’s Cole Blunder qualified for the CWOSSA boys’ tournament while Di Martino, Swarup, Andrews, Miller and Parker qualified for the CWOSSA girls’ tournament.

The CWOSSA girls’ tournament is to go at Baden’s Foxwood Golf Club Tuesday while the CWOSSA boys’ tournament is to be played Wednesday at the Cambridge Golf Club.
