Dartmouth’s four-goal run does in Gryphon hockey men

HANOVER, N.H. – A four-goal spree by Dartmouth Big Green powered the NCAA squad to a 7-3 victory over the Guelph Gryphons in university men’s exhibition hockey play Friday night.

The four-goal run that included a pair of goals less than a minute and a half apart broke a close game open.

The Gryphs scored first in the game, but Dartmouth led 3-2 at the end of the first period and they stretched the lead to 6-2 by the end of the second.

Gio Biondi, Duncan Penman and Liam Ham had a goal apiece for the Gryphs while Ham, Tristan DeJong and Nate Allensen each had an assist.

Cam MacDonald led Dartmouth with three goals and an assist. Joey Musa, Braiden Dorfman, Cooper Flinton and Matt Hubbarde each scored a goal while Hubbarde, Sean Chisholm, John Fusco and Tanner Palocsik each had two assists. Getting one assist apiece were Ian Pierce, Flinton, Steven Townley and Jack Cameron.

Dartmouth outshot the Gryphs 29-25. Tanner Wickware had 10 saves in the first 32:06 while Brendan Cregan had 12 saves the rest of the way.

Cooper Black had 17 saves in the first two periods for Dartmouth while Mikey Roberts had five saves in the third.

The Gryphs are to finish their three-in-three against NCAA squads Saturday at 7 p.m. when they’re to take on the Harvard Crimson at Cambridge, Mass.
