Defending champ Gaels clinch first in senior volleyball
GUELPH – The defending champion Guelph CVI Green Gaels clinched a first-place finish in the District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball league with a 3-0 sweep of the Lourdes Crusaders Thursday at GCVI.
The Gaels have won all 11 of their league outings while the second-place Ross Royals are at 8-3. While Ross can mathematically finish in a tie for first with the Gaels, GCVI would win the tiebreaker as the Gaels beat the Royals in both of their regular-season meetings.
GCVI defeated Lourdes 25-13, 25-16, 25-18.
Both the Gaels and Royals have three games to play in their regular seasons following the break for exams.
