Defending girls’ hockey champion Falcons clobber St. James

FERGUS – Emily Hagen picked up the shutout as the Centre Wellington Falcons clouted the St. James Lions 13-0 in District 10 high school girls’ hockey play Thursday at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

Olivia Kosempel and Sydney Healey each scored a hat trick for the defending OFSAA champions while Lauren Dixon and Lynsey Goodwin scored twice each. Single goals were added by Kara Den Hoed, Abby Zwep and Ella Chase. Healey also had four assists while Den Hoed, Kosempel and Goodwin had three apiece, Natalie Bielhartz, Olivia MacMillan and Abby Ferguson had two each and Zwep, Chase, Erin Sinclair and Amanda Johnston each had one.

Centre Wellington leads the D10 loop at 7-0-1-0 and have played one game more than second-place Bishop Macdonell Celtics (5-2-0-0) and three more than third-place Ross Royals (4-0-1-0). St. James (0-6-1-0) and the Guelph CVI Green Gaels (0-7-1-0) are tied for sixth.
