
DeKoening gets another shutout win for Minto
PALMERSTON – Daniel DeKoening recorded his second shutout victory in as many days as the Minto 81’s blanked the Shallow Lake Crushers 6-0 in WOAA senior AA men’s hockey play Saturday night at the Palmerston arena.
The 81’s had shut out the Durham Thundercats 3-0 at Durham Friday night.

The 81’s scored twice in each period for Saturday’s victory.
DeKoening stopped 33 shots for the shutout while his teammates took 35 shots at the Shallow Lake net guarded by Ryan Winter.
Klayton Hoelscher had two goals and two assists for Minto while Riley Cribbin had a goal and three assists and Jack Burkett had a goal and two assists. All three were teammates with the junior C Mount Forest Patriots three years ago.
Caleb Warren and Adam Kawalec also scored while Tyler Nother, Brendan Clayton and Shawn Lantz each had one assist.
The win was the fourth in a row for the 81’s who are now at 6-2-1-0.
After playing five of their first six league outings on home ice, the 81’s are in the midst of a stretch of five of six games on the road including three consecutive road games starting Friday at Shelburne. They’re also to play at Lucknow Saturday and at Tavistock Dec. 16.
