
DeKoening registers another shutout win for 81’s
LUCKNOW – Daniel DeKoening kept his shutout streak going as the Minto 81’s blanked the Lucknow Lancers 6-0 in WOAA Senior AA hockey play at Lucknow Saturday.
The victory was Minto’s fourth consecutive shutout victory, all with DeKoening in net. He hasn’t allowed a goal since the 6:49 mark of the third period of a 4-2 loss to the Tavistock Braves Nov. 13 at the Palmerston arena.

The shutout was also DeKoening’s fifth of the season as he’d been in net when the 81’s blanked the Milverton Four Wheel Drives Oct. 22 at the Palmerston arena.
Shots on net were not recorded Saturday.
Minto had a single goal in the first period and Lucknow had two in the second.
Blair Buchart and Riley Cribbin each had two goals and an assist while Owen Torrie and Denver Hill scored once each. Brendan Clayton had two assists and Chris Hardie, Hill, Jack Burkett, Mike Pleon, Trent Verbeek and Shawn Lantz each had one.
The 81’s had 13 players suited up for the game while Lucknow had 18.
Evan Morrison was in net for Lucknow.
The win leaves Minto fourth at 8-2-0-1 and Lucknow 12th at 2-9-0-0.
The 81’s are to complete the pre-Christmas portion of their season with a pair of games next weekend. They’re to play the seventh-place Tavistock Royals (6-4-1-0) at Tavistock Friday at 8 p.m. and ninth-place Milverton (3-8-0-0) Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Palmerston arena.
