Elora Mohawks leave Point Edward behind
POINT EDWARD – The Elora Mohawks connected for the first five goals of the game on their way to a 15-5 victory over the Point Edward Pacers in Ontario junior B lacrosse league play Saturday night at the Point Edward arena.
The Mohawks led 5-0 at the end of the first period and 12-4 after the second.
Logan Cameron, Ryan Mueller and Brett Harrison each recorded hat tricks for the Mohawks while Dean Sealey scored twice and single goals were added by Jayden Bushey, Sam Dramnitzke, Hyatt Welsh and Trent Spear. Welsh assisted on five of the goals while Dramnitzke and Spear collected four assists apiece, Mueller had three, Jonah White and Owen O’Donnell each had two and Bushey, Jacob Black and Sealey each had one.
Nate Armstrong had two goals for Point Edward while Jack Dunn, Liam Carter and Jakob Knowles also scored. Getting one assist each were Dunn, Jack McAuley, Armstrong and Knowles.
The Mohawks outshot the Pacers 68-27 and scored on seven of their eight power plays while Point Edward went 3-for-4 on its power play.
Sam Hadley had 22 saves to get the win in net for Elora while Elijah Trudeau had 53 saves in the Point Edward net.
The result leaves the Mohawks at 13-2-1 and Point Edward at 4-12-0.
The Mohawks are to host the Hamilton Bengals (12-3-1) at the Elora and District Community Centre Sunday at 7 p.m.
