
Elora Rocks score another win over expansion Blitz
ERIN – The Erin Blitz opened and closed the scoring in their Western Ontario Super Hockey League home opener against the defending champion Elora Rocks Saturday night at Centre 2000.
However, there were eight goals by the Rocks between Erin’s goals.

Elora led 2-1 at the end of the first period and 8-1 after the second.
Spencer Gourlay led the Rocks with three goals and three assists while Yianni Skropolis had two goals and single goals were netted by Charlie Stephens, Steven Dol and Brock Hoelscher. Dol had four assists while Brendan Woods had three, Spencer MacCormack and Zack Cameron had two apiece and Skropolis and Luke Hoelscher each had one.
Hayden Ireland and Daniel Heelis scored for Erin while assists went to Ireland and Zakk Collins.
The Rocks outshot the Blitz 28-18.
Colin Dunne was in net for the Rocks while Mathew McCabe was in goal for the Blitz.
The win was the third in as many outings for the Rocks while the loss was the second in as many outings for the Blitz, both losses coming against Elora.
The Rocks are to host the Delhi Flames (0-3-0-0) Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Elora and District Community Centre.
The Blitz are to play the league-leading Tilbury Bluebirds (4-0-0-0) at Tilbury next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tilbury Arena. That game is to be the first of four consecutive road outings for Erin.
