
Elora Rocks skate to another win over Strathroy
STRATHROY – The games might have been 49 days apart, but the Elora Rocks struck for their second consecutive victory over the Strathroy Jets in Western Ontario Super Hockey League play Friday night at Strathroy’s West Middlesex Memorial Centre.
The Rocks scored four times in the second period to win 6-4 Friday night. They had won 6-3 in Strathroy Dec. 17.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period Friday night before the Rocks scored all four goals of the second period. The Jets struck for three in a row in the third before Elora secured the win with their final goal with one minute to play.
Michael Giacometti had a pair of goals for the Rocks while single goals were added by John Palumbo, Andrew Whalen, Jacob Black and Steven Dol. Assists were awarded to Trevor Lord, Whalen, Matteo Condotta, Dol, Tye Campbell and Chad Herron.
Strathroy received goals from Dane Johnstone, Greg Milner, Samuel Baker and Mike Mandarelli. Single assists went to Wes Baker, Shaun Arvai, Mandarelli, Carson Moniz and Samuel Baker.
The teams were credited with 30 shots apiece with each team getting 10 shots each period. The squads also scored three power-play goals apiece.
Colin Dunne had 26 saves to get the win in the Elora net while Josh Diamond had 24 saves for Strathroy.
The Rocks are to play the Stratford Fighting Irish at Stratford’s Allman Arena Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
