Elora Rocks slip by Strathroy in overtime
STRATHROY – Zack Cameron’s goal with 51 seconds to go in overtime gave the Elora Rocks a 6-5 win over the Strathroy Jets in Western Ontario Super Hockey League play Friday night at the West Middlesex Memorial Centre.
The Rocks had grabbed the early lead with two goals in the first six minutes of the game, but Strathroy battled back, eventually forcing the overtime with two goals in the final 70 seconds of the third period. The first of that final pair for the hosts came three seconds after the Rocks had shot ahead 5-3.

Jacob Black and Alex Utley each had two goals and an assist for the Rocks while Spencer Gourlay had a goal and an assist and Cameron had the game-winner. Chad Herron and Luke Baleshta each had two assists and Spencer MacCormack, Aaron Smith and Yianni Skropolis each had one assist.
Greg Milner scored two goals for Strathroy while Patrick McNeil, Dave Vergeer and Brett Lashbrook each potted one goal. Dane Johnstone had two assists and McNeil, Wes Baker and Mike Bondy each had one.
The teams each fired 30 shots on net.
Colin Dunne picked up the win in net for the Rocks while Josh Diamond was charged with the overtime loss for the Jets, who haven’t lost in regulation time this season.
The Rocks lead the league at 10-1-0-0 while the Jets are second at 8-0-0-2. They’re followed by the Tillsonburg Thunder at 5-6-0-0, Stratford Fighting Irish at 3-5-0-1 and Alvinston Killer Bees at 0-11-0-0.
The Rocks are to play the Killer Bees at Alvinston next Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
