
Elora Rocks surprised by Killer Bees
ALVINSTON – The defending champion Elora Rocks rallied from a three-goal deficit, but yielded the winning goal in overtime as they were surprised by the Alvinston Killer Bees 4-3 in WOSHL play Saturday night at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre Complex.
The win was the second of the season for the Alvinston, giving the Killer Bees one more victory than they had in the entire 2021-22 regular season.

The hosts scored once in the first period and twice in the second before the Rocks came back, thanks to their power play. The Rocks scored a pair of power-play goals late in the second period and added another one early in the third to pull even.
However, the Elora squad couldn’t get the go-ahead goal as Alvinston continued its pressure.
The Killer Bees outshot the Rocks 49-30 in the game.
Spencer Gourlay had a pair of goals for Elora while Blaize Bridges scored the other goal. Andrew Brubacher assisted on all three goals while Zack Cameron had two assists and Yianni Skropolis had one.
Cam Welch scored the overtime winner for Alvinston while Cam Rombouts, Alex Cunningham and Carson Perry scored during regulation time. Perry, Welch, Rombouts, Derek Shaw, Dawson Winchester and Tye Johnson each had an assist.
Colin Dunne had 45 saves for the Rocks while Nolan Dekoning had 27 for Alvinston.
The expansion Tilbury Bluebirds lead the league at 8-1-0-0 while the Rocks are at 6-1-0-1 and are followed by the Tillsonburg Thunder at 5-1-0-0, Stratford Fighting Irish at 5-2-0-0, Strathroy Jets at 4-4-0-0, Alvinston at 2-4-0-1, Plattsville Lakers at 2-6-0-0, Delhi Flames at 2-7-0-0 and the Erin Blitz at 0-6-0-0.
The Rocks are to play the Jets at Strathroy’s Gemini Sportsplex Friday at 7:30 p.m.
