
Elora Rocks top Thunder to complete regular season
ELORA – Three goals in the second period sparked the Elora Rocks to a 4-1 victory over the Tillsonburg Thunder in WOSHL play Friday night at the Elora and District Community Centre.
The game was the final one of the regular season for the defending champion Rocks.

After a scoreless first period, the Rocks led 3-0 at the end of the second.
Mike Giacometti, Chad Herron, Alex Uttley and Shaun Pickering had single goals for Elora while Zack Cameron and Brendan Woods each had two assists. Single assists were awarded to Herron, Blaize Bridges, Yianni Skropolis and Uttley.
Justin Abraham scored a power-play goal midway through the third for Tillsonburg. Assists on the goal went to Brendan Barletta and Matt Weston.
The game was a wide-open affair as the Rocks outshot the Thunder 65-59 meaning the teams combined for an average of more than two shots per minute. They averaged three shots per minute in the second period when Elora outshot Tillsonburg 36-24.
Colin Dunne had 59 saves for the Rocks while Matt Sagrott had 62 for Tillsonburg.
The Rocks finish the regular season in first place at 18-4-0-2 while Tillsonburg is fourth at 15-7-0-0 with two games to play. The Stratford Fighting Irish are second at 18-5-0-0 with one game to go and the Tilbury Bluebirds are third at 17-4-0-1 with two games to go.
While the Rocks have completed their regular season, the league has a week to go before all teams are done.
