Emmanuel Christian knocked out of OFSAA tournament

WINDSOR – The Emmanuel Christian Eagles of Fergus were knocked out of the OFSAA provincial high school A boys’ soccer championship tournament after they suffered two losses Friday.

The Eagles were beaten 2-0 by St. Paul Wolverines of Mississauga and 3-2 by Ridley College Tigers of St. Catharines to finish round-robin play with four losses.

Top two in each pool advanced to the quarter-finals.

Saturday’s semifinals, set for 9 a.m., have Guido de Bres Gryphons playing Ursula Franklin Flames of Toronto and Ridley College playing Holy Cross Centurions of Strathroy.

Winners gain berths in the 1:30 p.m. gold-medal match while losers move on to the 1 p.m. bronze-medal game.
