Erin Blitz blitz Plattsville Lakers

PLATTSVILLE – The Erin Blitz turned in their largest single-game goal output of the season Sunday as they clobbered the Plattsville Lakers 12-1 in WOSHL play at the Plattsville arena.

The game was the final road match of the regular season for the Blitz who are to play a pair of games at Erin’s Centre 2000 arena next weekend.

Plattsville opened the scoring in the game at 6:18 of the first period, but Erin led 4-1 at the end of the period. The Blitz added three goals in the second and five in the third.

Joseph Franzin, Maxwell Lightfoot, Jacob Miller and Joey Warywoda scored twice apiece for the Blitz while single goals were netted by Liam Silva, Jordan Tutt, Cole Pellett and Jacob Coulson. Anthony Pullicino assisted on three of the goals while Sean Caruso, Miller, Tutt, Pellett and Warywoda had two each. Getting one apiece were Lightfoot, Coulson, Jeff White, Liam Galton and Hayden Ireland.

The Blitz were credited with outshooting the Lakers 33-26. They were also credited with scoring five goals on four shots in the third period. The Lakers were scoreless on the game’s only power play.

Brayden Kelso had 25 saves in Erin’s net while Ivgeni Luchko had 21 saves for Plattsville.

The Blitz locks in a sixth-place finish in the nine-team league with the victory. Erin is at 7-13-0-2 while Plattsville is eighth at 6-17-0-1 and has completed its regular season.

Erin started its inaugural season with eight consecutive losses, but have gone 6-9-0-1 since then and are 5-2-0-1 in its last eight games.

The Blitz are to host the Alvinston Killer Bees (seventh at 6-16-0-1) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and the Delhi Flames (ninth at 2-19-0-1) Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
