Erin makes it two-for-two in senior rugby’s opening week

ERIN – The Erin Raiders collected their second win of the District 4/10 high school senior boys’ rugby’s opening week as they downed the Centre Dufferin Royals 33-7 Thursday at Erin Public School.

Zach Bingham struck for a try and four converts while Malcolm Alderdice scored two tries and Blake Quantrell and Riley Magill each had one try.

Centre Dufferin’s scorer was not reported.


Ross 36 Guelph CVI 12

Ross also picked up its second win of the week.

Alex Coole led the Royals with two tries while Jon Howie, Adam Ford, Ky Harvey and Justin Rochon each scored one try. Calvin Fogler kicked three converts.

Owen Stirling and Omar Thaher each had a try for GCVI and Ethan Kroetsch added a convert.


Centre Wellington 41 Centennial 5

Centre Wellington hit for its first win as the Falcons had dropped their opener Tuesday.

Ethan Kosempel gathered two tries and two converts for the Falcons while Michael Chapman also scored two tries. Getting one try apiece were Cameron Rodrigue, Caleb Willmets and Wesley Munn while Reuben Bowley kicked a convert.

Brodie Goodchild had the try for Centennial.


Junior Boys

Centre Dufferin 33 Erin 7

Centre Dufferin claimed its second win of the week.

Brady Marshall ran for three tries for the Royals while Aidan Mackenzie kicked four converts. Abel Sales and Tucker Cunnington each added one try.

Tucker Miller scored the try for Erin while Jack Fries had the convert.


Ross 31 Guelph CVI 15

Ross’s win kept it an all-Royals league lead as it was the second victory of the week for Ross. Centre Dufferin Royals also have two wins.

Ross’s scorers were not reported.

Blake Forester, Wyatt Dolderman and Luke Wright each had a try for GCVI.
