Falcons finish unbeaten regular season with forfeit win
FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons didn’t have to step on the ice at Exhibition arena Monday to score a win over the Guelph CVI Green Gaels in District 10 high school girls’ hockey.
The Falcons were credited with a 2-0 win as the Gaels forfeited the game that meant nothing in the league’s final standings.
Centre Wellington finishes atop the league at 9-0-1-0 and is followed by the Ross Royals at 7-2-1-0, Lourdes Crusaders at 6-4-0-0, Centennial Spartans at 5-5-0-0, St. James Lions at 2-8-0-0 and GCVI at 0-10-0-0.
The Falcons and Royals get byes in Wednesday’s quarter-finals and both are to host semifinal matches Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
GCVI and Lourdes are to clash in one quarter-final Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Exhibition arena while St. James and Centennial are to battle in the other at 3 p.m. at Centennial arena.
The championship final is scheduled for March 1.
