Falcons grab their first senior hoops win of season
FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons claimed their first victory of the District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball season Tuesday when they downed the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 53-18.
Abby Taylor led the Falcons with 13 points.
Eve Elford had eight for the Gaels.
Centennial Spartans lead the league at 6-0 while the St. James Lions and Bishop Macdonell Celtics are both at 4-2. Orangeville Bears are next at 3-2 while the Ross Royals are at 2-3, Centre Wellington’s at 1-5 and GCVI is at 0-6.

Grace Mencfeld led St. James with 14 points while Amada Lago netted eight.
Alicia Higgins and Shaelyn Mitchell both had 11 for Bishop Mac.
Centennial 50 Orangeville 47
Sarah Cobey’s 14 points helped Centennial remain undefeated.
Alicia Bowering struck for 18 for Orangeville.
Guelph CVI 38 Centre Wellington 8
Maddy Boyd led GCVI with 12 points.
Gwen Millson Currie had six for Centre Wellington.
Ross 46 Lourdes 15
Bronwyn Sweeney dropped 23 points through the hoop for Ross while Ailani Curvan had 17 and Maren Mau added five.
Ashley Pallaya, Eden McQueen and Alex Tessier each had four for Lourdes.
Centennial 41 Orangeville 32
Chiara Marin and Kayla Hooper topped Centennial’s scoring list with 10 points apiece.
Williamson had 10 for Orangeville and Philips followed with seven.
