Falcons keep unbeaten streak alive with three-goal outbursts

GUELPH – The Centre Wellington Falcons struck for a pair of three-goal outbursts as they outlasted the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 8-4 in District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey play Tuesday at the West End arena.

The Falcons scored three times in the first four and a half minutes of the game, but GCVI responded with three of their own to tie it about two and a half minutes into the second. However, the Falcons again netted three in a row to go ahead for good.

The Gaels managed to close the gap to a pair of goals late in the second before Centre Wellington scored twice in the third.

The Falcons led 3-2 at the end of the first period and 6-4 after the second.

Brad Parkinson scored twice for Centre Wellington while Tyler Young had a goal and four assists, Trent Spear added a goal and three assists and Dean Sealey had a goal and two assists. Brett Harrison and Jack McDonald added a goal apiece while single assists were awarded to Mitch Bernier, Johnny Bauman, Logan Raynor, Ethan Meyer and Hayden Ireland.

Lucas Cross and Owen Shaw each had a goal and an assist for GCVI while Jacob Elmes and Brett Reynolds also scored. Picking up one assist each were Rhys Collins, Jackson Steele, Chris Stewart and Ethan Tyo.

The win was the fourth in as many games for Centre Wellington while GCVI fell to 1-2-0-0.
