Falcons, Royals add wins to stay atop girls’ hockey loop

GUELPH – The Centre Wellington Falcons and Ross Royals kept pace with one another atop the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league standings as both scored one-sided wins.

The Falcons dropped the St. James Lions 14-0 at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex while the Royals downed the Lourdes Crusaders 7-0 at the Victoria Road arena.

Centre Wellington has won all nine of its league outings, allowing two goals in the process. Ross is second at 6-2-0-0 and is followed by the Centennial Spartans at 4-4-0-0, Lourdes at 3-5-0-0, Guelph CVI Green Gaels at 2-6-0-0 and St. James at 0-7-0-0.

Emily Palmer, Aly Montgomery and Carson Lean scored twice apiece for Centre Wellington while the other goals were netted by Sydney Healey, Lynsey Goodwin, Kate Mabey, Tianna Dietrich, Olivia MacMillan, Kara den Hoed, Cecilie Proctor and Maddy Bender. Healey assisted on four of the goals while Goodwin had three assists, Lean, Abbey Zwep and Bender two each and MacMillan, Mackenzie Goodfellow, Kara den Hoed, Courtney den Hoed, Montgomery, Ella Chase and Proctor one each. Faith Mitchell had the shutout.


Ross 7 Lourdes 0

Olivia Sarabura recorded a hat trick for Ross while Sarah Taylor, Courtney Phillips, Emily Knight and Keegan Camp added single goals. Martina Doyle and Sarah Walker shared the shutout.
