Falcons split games on field lacrosse festival’s opening day

OWEN SOUND – The CWOSSA champion Centre Wellington Falcons will be hoping for a fifth-place finish in the OFSAA provincial high school AAA boys’ field lacrosse festival Thursday.

The 10th-seed Falcons split their games in pool play Wednesday to finish second in Pool C.

Centre Wellington was edged 8-6 by third-seed Neil McNeil Maroons of Scarborough before rebounding with a 12-8 win over sixth-seed Bill Crothers Colts of Unionville.

This is the first year Centre Wellington has competed in the sport and they’re to battle the 11th-seed Owen Sound Wolves in a game Thursday morning to decide whether they’ll play in the fifth-place or seventh-place game later in the day.

The Falcons will play either eighth-seed Bishop Reding Royals of Milton or fourth-seed Denis Morris Reds of St. Catharines in either game.
