Falcons win to open their boys’ hockey campaign

GUELPH – The Centre Wellington Falcons opened their District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey season with a 4-2 victory over the Ross Royals Friday at the Victoria Road arena.

Cam S. had a hat trick for the Falcons while Tye S. scored the other goal.

Ross received goals from Josh D. and Alex W.

Complete surnames were not reported.

For the Royals, the game was their second of league play as they had defeated the Orangeville Bears a week earlier in the only other game played so far this season.

The league is scheduled to resume with two games Monday and two more on Tuesday.

The Royals are the defending league champions as they won the title in the 2019-2020 season. The 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons fell victim to the global pandemic.
