Falcons wrap up top-spot finishing in boys’ hockey
ERIN – The Centre Wellington Falcons clinched a first-place finish in District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over the Erin Raiders at the Centre 2000 arena.
While the Falcons are tied for first with the Ross Royals, the Falcons are assured of a finishing in the top spot due to sweeping a pair of games with the Royals during the regular season.
Ross has also finished its regular season while the Falcons have a game to go against the Bishop Macdonell Celtics at the Victoria Road arena Monday.
Tuesday, Klompmaker and Keegan Detweiler scored for Centre Wellington while Martin collected the goal for Erin.
The Falcons are at 9-1-1 while the Royals are at 9-2-1 and the Orangeville Bears are set in third at 9-3-0. They’re followed by the St. James Lions (4-7-1), Centennial Spartans (4-7-0), Bishop Mac (3-5-0), Norwell Varsity Reds (2-8-1) and Erin (2-8-0).
While Ross, Orangeville and St. James have finished their regular seasons, Centre Wellington, Centennial and Norwell each have one game to play, Erin has two to go and Bishop Mac has three to play.
