Familiar score as Storm suffer setback in Kingston

KINGSTON – The Guelph Storm suffered their second 6-1 setback in as many nights as they were defeated by the Kingston Frontenacs in OHL play at the Leon’s Centre Saturday night.

The locals had been defeated by an identical score by the Saginaw Spirit Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.

Saturday, Kingston led 2-1 at the end of the first period before scoring the lone goal of the second period.

The Storm had opened the scoring in the game with Cooper Walker’s goal at the seven minute-mark. Jake Murray and Payton Robinson had assists.

Francesco Arcuri responded with two goals later in the period for the hosts. Paul Ludwinski, Matthew Soto, Adam Cavallin and Owen Outwater scored a goal apiece later in the game while Ludwinski and Linus Hemström each had two assists and Ben Roger, Arcuri, Outwater, Mitchell Brooks and Soto each had one.

The Frontenacs outshot the Storm 35-31 and went 2-for-6 on their power play while the Storm was scoreless on six power plays.

Jacob Oster had 29 saves in the Storm net while Ivan Zhigalov had 30 saves for the Frontenacs.

The loss leaves the Storm at 1-4-1-0 while the win leaves Kingston at 4-1-0-1.

The Storm are to complete their three-in-three weekend with a game against the Ottawa 67’s at TD Place in Ottawa (5-0-0-0) Sunday at 2 p.m.
