Fast start leads Rocks to win over Shallow Lake

SHALLOW LAKE – The Elora Rocks hit for four goals in the first period on their way to a 7-4 victory over the Shallow Lake Crushers in Western Ontario Athletic Association senior men’s hockey league play Friday night at the Shallow Lake and District Community Centre.

The Rocks led 4-1 after the first period and 7-2 after the second.

Stevie Alvo and Ed Gaffney scored twice apiece for Elora while single goals were netted by Sam Bilton, Brock West and Justin Byers.

Drew Quinlan had two goals for Shallow Lake and Adam Kading and Skylar Robertson added a goal apiece.

The win lifts the Rocks into a tie for ninth in the 14-team league at 7-7-1-0. Shallow Lake is 12th at 3-14-0-0.

The Rocks are to play the league-leading Clinton Radars (13-1-0-0) at the Central Huron Community Centre Friday at 8:30 p.m.
