Fergus Highland women dropped by league leaders

FERGUS – Fergus Highland suffered a 34-12 loss to London St. George in Niagara Rugby Union Women’s League play Saturday at Victoria Park.

Highland scored a pair of tries, but yielded six to London St. George.

The result left Highland at 5-3-0 and kept league-leading London St. George undefeated at 8-0-0.

Waterloo County is second at 5-2-1 while Highland is third.

Highland is to complete its regular season Saturday with a game against the Burlington Centaurs (3-4-1) at Burlington. Game time is 12 noon.

 

NRU Men A1

Highland was downed 43-14 by the Guelph Redcoats at Exhibition Park Saturday.

The hosts collected seven tries in the match while Highland scored two.

The win lifts the Redcoats’ record to 7-1-0 while Highland dropped to 3-6-0. With three bonus points, Highland is fifth in the league standings. Hamilton Hornets have the same record as Highland, but have eight bonus points and are fourth in the standings.

Bonus points are awarded for the number of tries scored in wins and the number of tries allowed in losses.

Highland is to complete its regular season Saturday with a match against the Norfolk Harvesters (0-9-0) at Waterford. Game time is 3 p.m.

 

NRU Men A2

Highland was also defeated 32-12 by the Guelph Redcoats Saturday in league play at Exhibition Park.

Highland collected two tries in the match while the Redcoats scored six.

The result leaves Highland at 1-8-0 and the Redcoats at 6-2-0.

Highland is to wrap up its regular season Saturday with a game against the Grimsby Gentlemen (3-4-0) at Grimsby. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
